Have a “Healthy” Appreciation for Your Boss on Boss’s Day!

I can remember each boss I’ve had over the years. Some bosses I’ve enjoyed more than others, but I can honestly say that I can appreciate at least one good quality about each individual that has supervised my work over the years. Even though our bosses tell us what to do and sometimes have to give us constructive criticism, we appreciate them for their guidance.

October 16 is Boss’ Day this year, so you still have time to show your thanks. Being in charge is a hard job, and sometimes our bosses get a lot of grief for being the heavy. If you think that your boss is hard to please, just compare him or her to some famous bosses on T.V. and you may find that you have a new appreciation for your job! At least your boss is not The Simpsons’ Montgomery Burns, who loves money but can’t remember any of his employees’ names. Tony Soprano is even worse: cross him and you won’t be at work the next day. And Michael Scott, of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company, is just downright annoying and can’t make it through the day without embarrassing himself or someone in the office.

Chances are your boss is much more enjoyable than these three supervisors. Have you chosen a present yet? From browsing online, I discovered that the No. 1 gift this year is supposedly a signature frame. I have a much better idea than a signature frame that may or may not be hung on the office wall. On Boss’s Day, try writing a note to your boss with words of affirmation and appreciation. You can also encourage your boss to make healthy choices like having a routine colonoscopy. Now, I know that a colonoscopy is not necessarily Hallmark greeting material. However, our friends over at StopColonCancerNow.com have made it easy to twist the arm of that “someone” to have a colon screening.

Send your boss an E-Card! StopColonCancerNow.com has an entire e-card library with many types of greetings and using various styles of humor. Match your boss’s personality to the card that suits him or her best, and hit “send.” My personal favorite is the card with the apple on the front!

Email your boss a link to one of our hilarious music videos. If your boss likes soul, he or she will get a laugh out of “It’s Not that Bad.” To get into the holiday spirit, you can send your supervisor a link to “Colonoscopy for Christmas.” We’re sure you will get an ROFL response!

We all know that having a colonoscopy is not the way we would choose to spend our day, but colonoscopies save lives. We all love our bosses, so show that you care by sending an e-card or music video link.
